A 4th of July Sail-a-bration! Message From The Commodore
Spring Success
We have had a great spring and we are heading to a great summer. Thanks to all the volunteers we have had two successful Regattas—Alligator Run and Hobie Island. The Community sale day saw more than 80 folks come out to experience sailing many for the first time. Thanks to the skippers who ferried them and to Mike Vitamvas for organizing it. Club racing is off to a good start especially with our new and growing WETA fleet.
House Keeping
Just a couple of housekeeping matters:
Back lot. Lock the gate to the other lock not the chain. There are two locks on the the back lot gate –one is ours and one is Duke Energy’s. Make sure you lock to the lock so they can get access.
Recycling. The blue can is for recycling. The town only recycles aluminum cans, glass bottles, plastic bottles and clean corrugated cardboard. Clean means no food waste so no food containers or pizza boxes. Do not put any other plastics or paper in the blue bin. If too much stuff gets added that is not recyclable gets put in the town may stop recycling because of the sorting expense.
Parking. When you park at the club remember not to block any boats, the beach or the ramps.
Celebrate the Fourth on the Fourth.
Friends this year the Fourth falls on a Saturday so we get to celebrate our 250th anniversary on the actual day. Let’s see how many boats we can get on the water to honor our nations’ birthday. We will have hot dogs and burgers provided by a generous club member. Bring fixings sides or deserts. We will eat between 5:30 and 6:00. This is a good time to bring a friend. Click Here to let us know by Friday at noon if you plan to attend and how many.
